- Is setting in windows and dialog boxes
- As Is
- is a setting you will see in these windows and dialog boxes:
- &Character Designer
- Paragraph Designer
- %Table Designer
- Find Character Format
- 1Change to Character Format
- Find Conditional Text
- Conditional Text
- Row Format
- Custom Ruling and Shading
- PAs Is may appear as a scroll list, an option in a pop-up menu, or a button in a
- Lwindow or dialog box. For example, the Conditional Text dialog box contains t
- Lan As Is scroll list, and As Is appears on the Alignment pop-up menu in the
- Paragraph Designer.
- NThe As Is setting has three purposes. In one case,
- FrameMaker
- changes
- Gproperties to As Is status, and in the other two cases, you change the w
- properties to As Is.
- Morehe
- MWhen properties are set to As Is, text boxes are empty, checkboxes are gray,
- #and As Is appears in pop-up menus.
- MWhen selecting items with different properties
- If you select paragraphs, p
- Qtext, or tables and they have different values for a property, the dialog box or
- *window displays As Is for that property.
- KFor example, if you select two paragraphs, one centered and the other left yo
- Maligned, the Alignment pop-up menu in the Paragraph Designer will display As {
- HWhen changing several properties in designer windows
- If you want to
- Jchange some but not all of the properties in the Paragraph, Character, or
- NTable Designer, you can set the properties you don
- t want to change to As Is.
- SWhen
- FrameMaker
- applies properties, it doesn
- t change properties set to As ope
- More-u
- OFor example, if you want to change all headings from centered to left aligned, rap
- Mbut you want to leave the rest of their properties in the Paragraph Designer
- Lintact, you can turn on As Is, change only the alignment property, and then of
- Nupdate all heading formats.
- FrameMaker
- will change only the alignment
- property of those formats.
- IWhen creating a character format
- When you create a character format, t
- Ryou use As Is to set it up so that
- FrameMaker
- changes only the designated
- Hproperty when you apply the format to specific text within a paragraph.
- DFor example, you can create a character format called Emphasis that
- Tchanges selected text to italics while leaving the font family or size as it is. By
- Uturning on As Is for these other settings, you tell
- FrameMaker
- to leave them i
- 0as they are when it applies the format to text.
- Autonumber
- building blocks
- Counters
- LAutonumbering displays numeric (n), alphabetic (a or A), and Roman numeral up
- P(r or R) counters. Counters specified by a space (< >, < +>, or < =1>) maintain th
- -a value, but the value is not displayed
- Example
- 8These autonumber formats are for a Harvard outline.
