  234. PAs Is may appear as a scroll list, an option in a pop-up menu, or a button in a 
  235. Lwindow or dialog box. For example, the Conditional Text dialog box contains t 
  236. Lan As Is scroll list, and As Is appears on the Alignment pop-up menu in the 
  237. Paragraph Designer.
  238. NThe As Is setting has three purposes. In one case, 
  239. FrameMaker
  240.  changes 
  241. Gproperties to As Is status, and in the other two cases, you change the w
  242. properties to As Is.

  269. IWhen creating a character format
  270. When you create a character format, t
  271. Ryou use As Is to set it up so that

  275. DFor example, you can create a character format called Emphasis that 
  276. Tchanges selected text to italics while leaving the font family or size as it is. By 
  277. Uturning on As Is for these other settings, you tell

  280. 0as they are when it applies the format to text.
